A WISCOMP Roundtable, January 13-14, 2013, New Delhi, India Mir Farooq, Asifa and Abdal during WISCOMP Workshop in New Delhi The WISCOMP roundtable Equity, Access and Quality in Education: Challenges before Jammu and Kashmir seeks to gather the collective energies of individuals associated with the education sector in Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi with a purpose to build sustainable inter-regional and inter-institutional relationships that can facilitate the actualization of holistic educational paradigms. It will look at how educators can make learning an exciting and invigorating activity even as they build children’s capacity to engage constructively with life’s challenges and the ever-evolving market economy, at both the local and regional levels. The roundtable bought together 40 scholars, teachers, teacher educators, activists and policy makers from J and K and Delhi to reflect upon the challenges that the school education system in Jammu and Kashmir currently faces. The aim was to create a repertoire of responses and generate a dialogue on the prospects for addressing these challenges.
